DENVER -- A Denver judge has entered a $6.4 million judgment against former Denver Broncos and New York Giants placekicker David Treadwell over a loan for a condominium development in Phoenix.
The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/1cu07de ) that Treadwell hasn't decided whether to appeal.
Treadwell and three partners got a $6.2 million loan to build Sierra Verde Villas in 2008, with Treadwell personally guaranteeing the notes. The venture sought bankruptcy protection in 2011.
With interest and penalties, the notes ballooned to more than $9 million, though the amount owed fell when the development sold for $3.2 million this year.
First-Citizens Bank & Trust settled with Treadwell's partners but pursued Treadwell for the balance owed.
The Post reports a judge ruled that Sierra Verde's bankruptcy reorganization didn't dissolve Treadwell's guarantee to pay.
